Hi!
Everyone agrees something needs to be done about our total dependence on US clouds. But what? And who should do it? Ample words have been written on the ‘why’, and we also have a lot of text on our values and that someone should do something.
Here I elaborate on an earlier suggestion with a coherent strategy that is concrete enough to disagree with. And crucially, this strategy is composed of things that individually are also a good idea. Lots of “no regrets” options.
Because I worry that we will not come to an overall “10 year plan” that gets us a European cloud economy. But instead, here are concrete steps that will build a railroad on which a non-US cloud ecosystem could run.
This post reads well with the latest Euro-Stack letter also (linked from the article):
A coherent European/non-US cloud strategy: building railroads for the cloud economy
Please do let me know your thoughts!
