Dear valued readers,
Palantir is an awful company, yet many governments and police departments are addicted to their software. But perhaps not for the reasons you might think.
In the new blog post “Some notes on how we ended up with Palantir & how to replace it”, I lament how many governments’ own policies have driven them into the arms of Palantir.
And also, why it will be very hard to move away again. Because the secret is, Palantir doesn’t just deliver software. Their stuff comes with capable “free” consultants that fill the gaps left by departments failing to maintain their own skills and capabilities.
Do read the blogpost for more details.
Thanks!
