Hi everyone,
Our societies and governments now largely run on American proprietary big-tech platforms. Many of us want to decrease this dependency, or even end it altogether. Here I wrote up a bunch of things we are doing wrong, and what the open world could do better: What we in the open world are messing up in trying to compete with big tech
In this piece I outline a lot of stuff we are (painfully) not doing. Just because our technologies are open does not mean that people will use them. Especially if our stuff is clunky or a bit weird.
We get no credit for not being big-tech. There are many things that we in the open world neglect, and I hope that this compendium can help us focus on fixing that.
I hope you enjoy What we in the open world are messing up in trying to compete with big tech!
Kind regards,
Bert
